Big events around New Hampshire this week include, burning porcupine. Burning porcupine is a camping event that is being held in Grafton. It has already started, and will last this weekend and next, specifically it is taking place on July 17th through July 25th.
The New Hampshire liberty alliance dinner was absolutely wonderful! Many of the attendees were running for office. Invited speaker Professor Jeffery Miron spoke about marijuana legalization. Specifically he talked about the ballot initiative in California, which would amount to complete legalization of marijuana. He discussed benefits, which were many, and drawbacks, which were few, of such a measure. The main benefit discussed was money saved. After Jeffery’s presentation, there was time for questions. One question was about the effect that legalization would have on use of marijuana. Professor Miron didn’t know the answer, but he suggested that that legalization may change marijuana use by a negligible amount or a small increase. He suggested that the current laws are so difficult to enforce that it might not make that much of a difference.
Muhammad Abdulaziz is planing to light the fire of liberty around the country with his liberty tour. Starting in Manchester NH and ending in Keene NH he plans to circle the country, visiting cities such as Miami, and Seattle. Traveling well over 10,000 miles, in 270 days. Sounds like no big deal right? It would be, except that Muhammad plans to use only one mode of transportation, his bike.
He will be promoting the message of freedom. Whether it’s ending wars, or the taxation that funds it. He might be promoting self-empowerment, or self-responsibility. All along the way he’ll be informing people of the free state project. This is a project to encourage 20,000 liberty lovers to move to New Hampshire.
Muhammad moved to New Hampshire in September of 2009 in order to contribute to the free state project. He has had such a great time, and met so many great people he wants others to know about the community that is growing in New Hampshire.
Muhammad will start his trip on September 01, 2010, and plans to complete the trip by May 28, 2011. Let’s wish Muhammad joy in his travels.
Come out, be social, have a slice of pizza. More information can be found at Meetup.com. More people come than RSVP. Usually there are between 10 to 30 people attending.
Well I’m back from liberty forum. It was so much fun. You may have seen my talk at the alt expo about shire hours. In any case, I wanted to make the slides from this talk publicly available. You can find these slides at:
Enjoy these slides. If you have an interest in using shire hours, you can set up an account at http://www.shirehours.com. They are already being used by many people in New Hampshire, as well as elsewhere. Get on board with a community payment system, and support trade between friends.
